On May 20th, 2024, MommyNMeTours was grateful for the opportunity to witness the 159-year celebration of the Emancipation Proclamation in Tallahassee, Florida. Audiences from all over Tallahassee, Florida gathered in the arranged empty manicured lot right out front of the Knott House where Union soldiers arrived by official drumming to deliver the written emancipation proclamation as set forth by President Abraham Lincoln. May 20th is a holiday of celebration that declares all enslaved persons were emancipated.

Enjoy the pictures below for a brief glimpse of the ceremony. I would recommend if you have not had the chance to witness such a profound historic moment plan an event. History books are a great escape from actuality. Unfortunately, residents of the nearby plantations live with the fear of the descendants of slave owners returning to estates to enslave again. Consequently, the Florida Emancipation Proclamation is a reminder of the sun's rays that bestow everyone.
